Shefali Kothary, MD is a Musculoskeletal Radiologist in New York. She completed her undergraduate studies at Dartmouth College, after which she attended medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine. She went on to complete residency in Radiology at Mount Sinai and fellowship in Musculoskeletal Radiology at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York.  

Dr. Kothary has been an active member of AAPI since medical school. She has been involved with her local chapters as well as the national organization. She previously served as Treasurer and President-Elect of AAPI YPS, and currently serves as President. She is excited to facilitate education and events to engage and bring together medical students, residents, fellows, and young physicians. 

In her free time, she enjoys traveling, sports and cooking.

Dr. Gautam Kamthan is an ophthalmologist at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai in NYC and in private practice in NJ.

As president-elect, he aims to help you develop a long-lasting community of friends and a professional network you can tap into wherever you go

His interests include surfing, reading, socializing, and spending time with family

School and training: NYU and Mount Sinai

Pratik Kothary is an Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiologist practicing in Long Island, New York. Pratik grew up in Long Island, completed his undergraduate degree in finance at NYU’s Stern School of Business and medical school at Tufts University School of Medicine. After completing his intern year in Internal Medicine at North Shore-LIJ, he did both residency and fellowship at NYU.

Following fellowship, he returned to North Shore University Hospital as a practicing cardiac anesthesiologist and is an Assistant Professor at the Zucker School of Medicine. Pratik’s passion is teaching, and he is active in mentoring both residents and medical students. 

Pratik has been an active member of AAPI since medical school, participating in both his local chapter, AAPI-QLI, as well as the national organization. As Vice President, he is excited to bring together and facilitate events for medical students, residents, fellows, and younger physicians.

Outside of work, Pratik is an avid New York sports fan cheering for the Yankees, Knicks, Giants, and Rangers. 

Dr. Kriti Arora born and brought up in New Delhi, India, and moved to Toronto, Canada at the age of 14. She attended University of Toronto, Canada for undergraduate degree, and received her medical degree from Saba University School of Medicine. She then completed her Family Medicine residency at Aultman Hospital / Northeast Ohio Medical University in Canton, Ohio – where she was also Chief Resident. 

Dr. Kriti Arora is practicing as a primary care physician at a Federally Qualified Health Centre close to Toledo, OH. She is passionate about preventative health, especially in women and the underserved population. Her research in preventative women’s health during residency has won first place at the national AAFP conference. She also holds volunteer teaching positions at University of Toledo School of Medicine and Northeast Ohio Medical University.

She is a certified yoga teacher; and when she is not working, she is most likely getting on a plane to go to a fun destination. As a YPS convention chair, she is very excited to be able to coordinate and facilitate events that will bring together all hard-working medical students, residents, fellows and practicing physicians. She is always open to ideas, so feel free to reach out to her with any requests and/or suggestions for activities that you would like to see more of in the coming future. 

Dr. Jaya Mehta. D.O., is a family medicine physician working in the Philadelphia area. She grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. She attended Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine and did her residency training at Jefferson Hospital Northeast near Philadelphia. While she sees a broad spectrum of patients, her main interests are pediatrics and endocrinology. Her previous work in nursing homes as an attending physician also gave her the opportunities to hone her skills. She enjoys teaching students and helping the next generation of future physicians. When she is not taking care of patients, she enjoys music and dance, especially Bollywood, spending time with family and friends and exploring what Philadelphia has to offer. She looks forward to collaborating YPS and MSRF in progressing our mission as AAPI organizations.
